My Baby Rex (Ball Python)

As I mentioned from the my previous post,
Finally, I have my Ball Python with me ! Many people might thought that I am a freak for keeping such exotic pets but the truth is the love and passion to observe the behavior of this magnificent reptile.

Nick name = Rex

Scientific = Python Regius

Common name = Ball Python

Origins = Western Africa to central Africa

Introducing Rex

This is my 4 months old Baby Ball Python. Ball Python typically reach 3 feet to 5 feet in adult size, not really long after all, cool dude, very tame, adorable =)

Having it to crawl on my desk sometimes, my girlfriend being too attractive...lol

Cooling down its temperature by soaking into the bowl once in a while

Retreating to its hiding place, isn't the fellow cool going round and round the branch?? =D

All for the introduction part, basically the best part for observing a snake especially Pythons is the eating part, super awesome ~ ~ =D
This was my second feeding,

This pregnant mice was sacrificed last night.

Ball Pythons are commonly fed with mice or rats, depending on the size of the snake. No special food are required, just a mice or rat a week is sufficient for its nutrition level.

Well, since they are non venomous, God gave them one special *kungfu* ability that is constricting. It defines as squeezing the prey, crashing the bones and killing it before swallowing the whole thing.

Not many snakes are able to swallow something bigger than their body, all Pythons are alright with that. The mice I fed are twice fatter than the snake. Imagine ~ ~

After swallowing the whole mice, its time for a drink, yamcha yamcha ~ LoL

Pythons or any snakes should not be disturb after meals, normally they will find a hiding dark spot, curl into a ball (for my Ball Python) and sleep for at least 24 hours.

As you can see. they swallowed the whole mice but not bitten it into pieces before swallowing.

During the process of digestion, if the particular snake are disturb with too much movement, it might vomit out the remaining of what is inside the body, you wouldn't want to see or even smell it, trust me !

Lastly, for all New Snake Breeders, many steps can be done to ensure the comfort of the Python without spending too much. For example, hiding place, cut a plastic flower pot into half will do, you may also get some astroturf from your neighborhood to decorate it (Photos above). Bowl, a clay cheap one will do. Branches for the snake to slide through while shedding, never ever get from the pet shop, get it from the wild, peel the skin and dry it, FREE and the base, newspaper will do, easy to clean, throw everything away, replace it with new ones. Never use sand as a base, the snake might swallow some of it.

So, that's all for now, more videos and pictures will be uploaded soon after I got my camera back from home.

~off~
=)

Your new baby is so cute! I too have a bay ball python! Her name is Ginger and she lives in my office at the elementary school where I work. She is gorgeous and gentle and I love her. I also have an adult ball python that is 15 years old, is 5 feet long and weighs 12 pounds. She is also very gentle and beautiful. Well, she's not very gentle when I feed her a jumbo adult rat! You will immensly enjoy watching your python grow over the years. Try not to over feed in attempt to boost her growth. She will only get obese. Good luck and a long happy life with her.
